How to Apply
Our Shelter Program assists homeless families with children by equipping them with the skills and resources needed for lasting independence. We ask that an adult member of the family contact Family Promise at (843) 815-4211 to request assistance.
After answering a few basic questions, the family will be contacted by our Case Manager to discuss their situation, space availability and the possibility of a face-to-face conversation.
During this intake meeting, the family will learn about our program, what Family Promise can provide and what role they play in determining their own future success.
Following the meeting, our Case Manager will contact the family to discuss their interest and to assure any questions are answered.
If the family is invited to participate in the program, an appointment will be set for their orientation. This process will normally take 2-3 days. Please note ~ we are not an Emergency Shelter.
What We Provide
We partner with local congregations throughout Beaufort County, individuals, families, other social service agencies, foundations, and businesses to provide temporary 24-hour shelter and viable solutions for these families who are facing a housing crisis.
While our program is non-denominational, families sleep in a network of local congregations where volunteers provide meals, essential needs, and companionship.
Our staff provides comprehensive case management and assistance in securing employment, childcare, school placement and ultimately affordable housing.
Our Day Center is the hub of operations and is the “home base” during their stay. It is here where they also have access to computers, showers and laundry facilities.
At the Day Center guests work on self-sufficiency plans and meet with our Case Manager on a regular basis. We provide transportation to and from the Day Center and congregations each day.
