COVID-19 Response

In this time of uncertainty, the decision was made on March 18 to not only halt bringing new families into our Shelter Program, but also to secure overnight accommodations for the two families currently in our care.  Both families are safely housed at a nearby hotel where they will continue to stay until they secure permanent housing of their own.  Luckily, each room has a fully equipped kitchen, complimentary laundry facilities, and a business office onsite.

This, of course, has placed an unexpected financial burden on our organization as each week will cost approximately $1,400 for their lodging.  Should you be able to assist with helping to support our families, any of the following options would be greatly appreciated.

  • Gift cards to Walmart (preferably in denominations of $10 or $25) which will be used to purchase gas for our family’s cars so they can get to work and use to purchase food.
  • Gift cards to Food Lion (preferably in denominations of $10 or $25) as the hotel is in walking distance of the store.
  • Donations to assist with hotel expenses made either:
    • By check and payable to:
      • Family Promise of Beaufort County and sent to 181 Bluffton Road, D101, Bluffton, SC 29910.

We continue to assist the families in our Staying on Track and Get on Track Programs to assure they are well taken care of and their needs are addressed to the best of our ability.

Our leadership team, along with our Board of Trustees continue to assess possible options as to when and how best to reopen our Shelter Program to new homeless children and their families when the time is appropriate. Regardless of the timing, the health and well-being of our families, volunteers, and staff is of paramount importance.

Until otherwise communicated, our Day Center continues to be staffed
Monday through Friday from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm.
